The University Honors Program invites applications from incoming freshman, incoming transfer students and current RMU students.
Priority consideration is given to students with excellent high school records, including SAT scores of 1200 or higher* (combined critical math/reading), cumulative GPAs of 3.5 or above and graduation at or near the top of their class. Decisions will be made by April 1, with priority consideration given to applications received by March 1. After the decision date, applications may continue to be reviewed until all positions are full. Download the
Freshman Honors Application now.
Current RMU first year students with at least a 3.5 RMU GPA and between 15 and 30 credits will be invited to apply to the honors program in January for the upcoming fall semester. Please complete the Continuing RMU Student Honors Application Form and arrange to have an RMU professor fill out the
recommendation form. All forms should be sent to the Honors Program, 308 John Jay. Review of applications will begin on February 10.
Incoming transfer students who have completed at least 30 credits with a GPA of 3.5 or higher are invited to apply to the honors program. In addition to the quality of the transfer application, consideration of the type of transfer institution (e.g. two-year, four-year, technical), consideration of previous participation in an Honors Program, amount and type of honors work completed and the feasibility of completing the RMU Honors curriculum will be taken into account in the evaluation of the Transfer Student Honors Application.
*An impressive academic record, application responses, and resume of accomplishments and interests may compensate for standardized test scores slightly below the published guidelines.
