Robert Morris University’s Colonial Theatre proudly presents Lanford Wilson’s The

Sunday February 26th at 2pm. Tickets are $10 and are available through Student Life at 412-397-

The Rimers of Eldritch follows the everyday lives of the citizens of Eldritch, after a
traumatic event that involves an attack on one of the young girls in town and the murder of the
town lunatic. Unbound by the limitations of the normal progression of time, The Rimers of
Eldritch presents a murder mystery at its finest and most intriguing. The who and how are a
given, but the why and how aren’t revealed until the final moments. The show offers unique
insight on the personal lives of each townsperson while intermittently shedding light on the
progression of the murder trial, the events leading up to the murder, and gatherings of the
townspeople at church after the murder has taken place. The show is presented with the
majority, if not all, of the characters on stage for the duration of the play. “In any small town,
there’s a feeling of suffocation; at any given moment someone is aware of someone else’s
personal business and there’s no way to escape. The blocking really conveys these small town
frustrations and feelings of crowdedness for me, on a personal level,” says Ellen Lichius, playing
the role of Evelyn.
There is a timelessness about the content that allows the town of Eldritch to exist
everywhere and nowhere; the people and the situations speak to everyone’s vision of home: the
nuances, the first loves, and the dark secrets. The Rimers of Eldritch plays with time, poetry, and
hymns to create a real and haunting “why-dun-it” that is sure to entertain.
