Little Stars ~ Tot Programs 

Little Stars  (Classes: Wednesday - 6:30 p.m., Thursday - 1:30 p.m., Saturday - 12:30 p.m.)

The Little Stars program teaches pre-school children (3-5 years of age) the basic skating skills that are needed to develop the preliminary coordination and strength necessary to maneuver on ice skates. Learning through fun and games, students learn the proper way to fall and get up, balance on the ice, skate forward and backward, glide and stop, preparing them for more advanced skating skills. Includes a weekly 30-minute instructional class and public skating session. No skating experience is necessary.

Tots: 3 - 5 years of age
Ice Skating Institute's (ISI) basic ice skating skills curriculum: Skill levels: Tots 1, 2, 3, 4, Tot Pre-Alpha

Class Structure

    • 30 minute instructional class
    • Skate rental included
    • Public Skating Session at class time included for practicing skating skills and FUN

Please Note: Classes have a limited number of spaces and tend to fill-up prior to the first day of classes. Please register early to ensure a spot for your skater(s).

To register for classes please call 412.397.3335 press "0" to be connected to the customer service desk to register over the phone with a credit card. Registration in person is available at the front desk at ISC.

Little Stars & Big Pals  (Class: Tuesday 10:30 a.m.)

Offered to tots and a parent or guardian who want to learn the basics of skating together in a fun atmosphere. Tots must be comfortable leaving adult during class. Includes a weekly 30-minute instructional class and public skating session. No skating experience is necessary for tots; adults should have basic skating ability.

Tots: 3 - 5 years of age + an adult pal!

Please note: A minimum of four skaters must be registered 48 hours prior to the first day of class in order for class to be held

Little Stars Class Registration

To register for any of the Skating School programs including: Learn to Skate Level 1 & 2 and Little Stars programs, please contact the customer service desk by calling: 412.397.3335 press "0" when the automated message begins and you will be connected to the customer service desk.  If they are not with another customer, they will be able to take your call and register the skater(s) over the phone with a credit card.  Full payment is due at time of registration.  You may also register in person by going to the main desk at the Island Sports Center.  Additional questions may be directed to Skating Director, Beth Sutton: 412.397.4469 or sutton@rmuislandsports.org
