Ages 6–13 | LTS USA Pre-Free Skate – Free Skate 6 and/or Skaters at the Pre-Preliminary Skating Skills and Higher 

What is the Summer Day Camp?

A structured, full-day camp experience designed for skaters who are developing their foundational skills, working toward axels and early double jumps, and building confidence on and off the ice.

⛸️ Who Can Join

  • Ages 6–13
  • Learn to Skate USA Pre-Free Skate through Free Skate 6 or skaters at the Pre-Preliminary and higher Skating Skills Tests
  • Working on single jumps, axel prep, and beginning doubles
  • Skaters must be able to manage freestyle sessions independently

Daily Schedule Highlights

What a Typical Day Looks Like
Detailed Weekly Schedule will be provided to campers

  • Drop Off:  8:00 -8:30 AM
  • Camp Activity: 8:30 AM - 3:50 PM*
  • Pick Up: 3:50- 4:20 PM
  • On-ice practice and specialty group classes
  • Time for private lessons during freestyle
  • Off-ice strength, flexibility, and movement classes
  • Team-building games and crafts
  • Lunch break (skaters bring their own lunch)
  • Mini golf and creative activities on select days

*Detailed Daily Schedule will be provided.  Campers will skate on each designated "Low Freestyle" for lesson scheduling.

Camp Environment

  • Skaters are supervised during all structured activities
  • Parents must be comfortable with independent freestyle time (not directly supervised)
  • Ice Monitor & check-in/check-out system in place

Registration & Cost

Weekly Camp: $325 payable at time of registration
($325 = $65/day & approx $7.25/hour!)
Drop In Fee: $80 ($10/hour)

Daily Programming

  • Freestyle Ice time (Camp Freestyle Sessions will be the low freestyle sessions, which will not be transferable to other FS sessions that are not included in the camp) 
  • Off-ice classe (Level appropriate conditioning & Style & Movement Class, Stretching) 
  • Private lesson fees and private lesson scheduling are not included in the camp.  Skaters must coordinate with their private lesson coach about their individual lessons and must be on the designated "camp" freestyle sessions, which are the daily LOW Freestyle sessions.

PARENT FAQ

Q: What ages and levels can participate?
A: Skaters ages 6–13 who are in Learn to Skate USA Pre-Free Skate through Free Skate 6 levels and those beginning Axel/double jump development.

Q: What are the camp hours?
A: Specific daily schedules will be provided upon registration. Expect a full day between morning and mid-afternoon.

Q: Will my skater have coaching for freestyle sessions?
A: Skaters will have the opportunity to schedule private lessons with coaches during freestyle sessions but will practice independently unless in a lesson.

Q: What should my skater bring each day?
A:

  • Skating equipment (skates, guards, gloves)
  • Athletic shoes for off-ice classes
  • Comfortable athletic clothes
  • Lunch (no refrigeration provided)
  • Water bottle
  • Positive attitude!

Q: Is there supervision all day?
A: Most activities are supervised; however, parents must be comfortable with brief periods where skaters are practicing independently during freestyle ice times.

Q: Can my skater do only part of the week?
A: Weekly registration is preferred for day camp. For competitive track skaters, daily drop-in options are available.

Summer FS Camp Policies

RMU Island Sports Center Figure Skating Academy Summer Day Camp Policies & Refund Information

❄️ Program Overview The RMU ISC Figure Skating Academy Summer Day Camp is designed for skaters ages 6–13, Pre-Free Skate through Free Skate 6, and those working on Axel and double jumps. Campers participate in on-ice practice, off-ice conditioning and movement, specialty classes, and supervised activities.

Refund Policy

  • No refunds will be issued for any reason, including illness, injury, or scheduling conflicts.
  • Skaters who are unable to attend a registered week may transfer to a different camp week if space allows.
  • If a skater cannot attend another week, no credit or refund will be issued.
  • If a skater fails to notify the Academy prior to the first day of their registered week, they forfeit all fees for that week.

Camp Transfer Policy

  • Camp week transfers must be requested at least 48 hours prior to the original camp start date.
  • Transfers are subject to availability and are not guaranteed.
  • All transfer requests must be submitted in writing via email to the Skating Director.

⏰ Late Arrival / Early Pick-Up

  • Parents must inform the Camp Director of any late arrivals or early dismissals in advance.
  • Supervision is only provided during official camp hours. Early drop-offs and late pick-ups are not available.

Medical Information & Emergencies

  • All skaters must have a completed emergency contact and medical release form on file.
  • Parents will be contacted immediately in the event of illness or injury.
  • Camp staff do not administer medications.

Skater Conduct & Responsibility

  • Skaters are expected to be respectful and cooperative with staff, coaches, and peers.
  • Unsafe, disrespectful, or disruptive behavior may result in dismissal from camp without refund.
  • Skaters must bring their own labeled lunch, snacks, and water bottles daily.

Personal Belongings

  • Please label all belongings. RMU ISC is not responsible for lost, stolen, or misplaced items.
  • Valuables should be left at home.

❄️ Program Changes

  • RMU ISC reserves the right to adjust the camp schedule, coaching staff, or program structure due to enrollment or facility needs.
